Meeting Rep. Leni Robredo

I’m not a big fan of politicians in general. I’ve been disappointed with so many of them. Yet I try to remain hopeful. I feel I have to continue hoping that things will get better, mainly for my children and their future. In the upcoming May 2016 elections, no presidential candidate interests me. But with the entry of Rep. Leni Robredo in the vice-presidential race, I am once again hopeful. Hopeful that we can have a government official who is honest, who is simple, who genuinely cares.

This afternoon, we were honored to have Rep. Robredo as guest in the induction of the PSHS Parent Officers. She spoke as a mother to Jillian, her Gr. 10 PSHS daughter and to her two other daughters. It was refreshing to hear someone in government without the arrogance one usually finds in other politicians. She was very candid and gracious. I really hope she wins next year. The country may yet have a chance, with people like Rep. Leni Robredo.

Maisen: Just Another Katsu Restaurant

My family likes katsu. My son tries the katsu in every restaurant that has it. He was quite excited when he saw that there was another katsu restaurant that just opened in SM Megamall and SM North EDSA. The branch in SM North EDSA was just on its soft opening when we tried it.

Service is good and the staff was helpful with their food suggestions. I liked their Japanese salad dressing. I don’t ordinarily eat a lot of vegetables, but I had a lot of their salad. The katsu, though, was quite bland. That was the deal breaker for us. The meat was not so tender either. I guess we won’t be going back there anytime soon. There are other katsu restaurants within the same price range that serve better food.

Ippudo: Delicious Ramen and Pork Buns

Bong is in a ramen phase these days. He has been trying different ramen places in Megamall and Quezon City. I like Japanese food, but I’m not exactly a big fan of ramen. We were in the Mega Fashion Hall for an early lunch and saw that there were no lines yet in Ippudo. We thought it would be a good time to try it since the lines are almost always long. We were then shown to our table and handed our menus. The interior of the restaurant is quite small. But the staff was very knowledgeable about the different food options they had and were very helpful. You can specify how hard or soft you want the noodles to be.

Food was delicious. The ramen came in big servings. The pork buns were also delicious, although I think they were quite small. Prices are on the high side, but that is to be expected.
