Grateful Project Day 164: Our 4DX Experience at BGC Cinemas

Just last week, my nephew Raffy told us about the new 4DX cinema that opened recently in Bonifacio High Street. We’re not exactly big fans of 3D movies – except when it was “How To Train Your Dragon”. That was the only movie we enjoyed watching in 3D. The animation was just wonderful. So when we learned that “How To Train Your Dragon 2” was going to be shown in the recently-opened 4DX cinema, we immediately scheduled it in our calendar.

The Bonifacio High Street Cinemas are located in the 3rd level of the Central Square Building, near the corner of 30th St. and 5th Ave. The building is still under construction. From what we saw, only the cinemas and the convenience store are operational. The cinemas are small, with only seven rows of seats. With limited seats available, it is best to get your tickets before you get there. We booked our tickets online. Movie tickets are sold at least 3 days in advance.

The seats were soft and very comfortable with a lot of legroom between the rows of seats. Air-conditioning was on the cold side, especially when there are bursts of air for effect. The bathroom was clean and well-stocked with tissue paper and soap. The fixtures and hand dryer are very modern.

Watching “How To Train Your Dragon 2” in 4DX was an exhilarating experience! The movie was perfect for the 4D technology. You get the feeling that you were flying high in the sky with Hiccup and Toothless. You feel the rush of air and the shaking of the ground. Bursts of light come flashing around. You smell the fire burning when the dragons fight. It makes you feel like you are actually in the movie.

I don’t know how the 4D experience will be with other movies, but with “How To Train Your Dragon 2”, it was really great!
