School year 2013 – 2014 has officially ended in our household. My daughter’s school underwent a Bridging Program before they made the transition to the K + 12 program that the Department of Education had mandated. That meant that for this year, they finished the requirements for two grade levels. They had to extend the school year for that purpose – longer class hours, occasional Saturday classes, additional homework plus summer bridging. So while students from other schools have started on their summer break, my daughter was still going to class and taking tests. But that’s all behind us now. Summer vacation is officially on! I am grateful for summer vacation so that the kids can relax and have fun, plus I don’t have to get up at the crack of dawn.
