April 9 is a holiday in the Philippines. It is the day we celebrate “Araw ng Kagitingan” (Day of Valor). We remember the bravery of the Filipino and American soldiers who fought against the Japanese invaders during World War II. The Dambana ng Kagitingan (Shrine of Valor) was built on Mt. Samat in Bataan to commemorate these soldiers. We are grateful for these brave soldiers who gave their life so that we may attain freedom.
